37th Annual Corso Roadtrip Awards

We're finally here! Actually, we arrived on Thursday around 6pm. Our drive was grueling, but beautiful in some parts. The route was Rt. 81 from northern VA down through Tennessee, then to Rt. 59 through Georgia, Alabama, Missisippi, and Louisiana. In Louisiana we picked up Rt. 10 and that took us west all the way to San Antonio.

Given the 1,045 other drivers we polled on the way down here, the votes for the 37th Annual Corso Roadtrip Awards have come in. They have been counted; the results are as follows:

The Kid in the Candy Store Award: Virginia
(Formerly known as the Nose-Pressed Against the Glass Award)
(state having the best scenery)

The Try not to Toss Your Cookies Cup: Tennessee
(state having the steepest roads)

The Snoozer Plaque: Alabama
(state having the most boring scenery)

The NASCAR Award: Georgia
(state having the fastest drivers)

The Colonel Sanders Bucket: Mississippi
(state having the most Kentucky Fried Chicken stops)

The Mosquito Cup: Louisiana
(state having the largest swamps)

The Vaca Plaque: Texas
(state having the most cows visible from the highway)

The Blue Plate Special Award: Louisiana
(state having the most roadkill)

The King Ferdinand & Queen Isabella Crown: Texas
(state having the flatest landscape)

The Keep Your Piggy Bank Intact Award:Tennessee ($1.92 per gallon)
(state having the lowest gas prices)
