Turkey Day Celebration

A belated HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you all!

We missed our families (you) during this Thanksgiving. We hope you all had a fun holiday, and after speaking with most of you, that seems to be the case. We had 2 couples from work who were also away from family or didn't really have any. And we also had a fellow psychologist who was not able to be with her family. It was a quaint little celebration with the 7 of us (not including the little one in Meghan's belly). Pictures are below. We did it potluck style. Meghan and I made the turkey, the stuffing (THANK YOU AUNT MARYLYNN AND GRANDMA CORSO), and the salad. The other guests made the rest.

Speaking of pregnancy, since Meghan is officially 10 weeks pregnant the child is now considered a fetus. I have decided to try keeping a running log of "Pregotables" - that means notable pregnancy quotes. Here's one I heard this morning within 8 seconds of Meghan opening her eyes: "You have to make your pregnant wife pancakes!"

Airshow with Mamasan

The Pensacola Naval Station hosted an air show a few weeks ago. Mamasan (Mrs. Clancy) came out to visit us. She is our 2nd official visitor other than Erin. We had a great time! Here are a few pics.

Whoops! How did this one sneak in there? Sorry for the littel smooch session between Meghan and Clancy. Actually this is a picture of our first fire of the season. It's getting down around 30 F overnight these days, but still returns to 75 F during the day. I love having a fireplace!

Airshow Pics

The Blue Angels had their 60th Anniversary this year. It was the main event of the air show. For those who have never been to one of these, they are quite an experience. You'll see machines you'd never thought you would get close to... and people you only thought existed in Jeff Foxworthy Books. Anyway, the amazing thing is that the Blue Angels (the blue F-16's with eh yellow trim) fly with the nose of one and wing of the others 18 inches apart!!!! It is unbelievable that these guys don't crash! I mean really, we have fender-benders in our cars while gravity sticks us to the road beneath the tires and we're driving a mere 30 MPH. These guys are in air and going just a tad bit faster. Unreal...

This is a picture of a C-5. It's a cargo plane that can hold up to 7 Greyhound buses. It is the plane that moves the Hubble Telescope (sp?). We actually got to fly the C-5 simulator during our residency and had a private tour of the plane from 2 pilots. The nose of the plane (cockpit) is 6 stories from the ground. For those of us who REALLY enjoy hearing about specs, here are some more: Four turbofan engines mounted on pylons under the wings power the C-5. Each engine pod is nearly 27 feet (8.2 meters) long, weighs 7,900 pounds (3,555 kilograms) and has an air intake diameter of more than 8 1/2 feet (2.6 meters). The Galaxy has 12 integral wing tanks with a capacity of 51,150 gallons (194,370 liters) of fuel - enough to fill 6 1/2 regular-size railroad tank cars. The fuel weighs 322,500 pounds (145,125 kilograms) and permits the C-5, carrying a 204,904-pound (92,207-kilogram) payload, to fly 2,150 nautical miles (3,440 kilometers), off-load, and fly another 500 miles (800 kilometers) without aerial refueling.

Can you tell what is flying through the air?

Halloween

I stink - admittedly and despite the fact that I admit this each time I leave a lapse in blog postings, I continue to post only periodically (verus regularly) and continue to admit fault. Hey, sounds like I've just defined what it means to be human! Glad I'm just like the rest of you:) You may notice there is a Jack-O-Lantern for each of our human family members - Sorry Clancy and Jasmine, you two do not get one. Maybe next year.

Unmodified pictures of Baby Corso

BTW, I like to call the embryo Corsito - meaning "little Corso" in Spanish. Oh, and here is a picture of Alec - just so you can get a visual of this cute little boy saying the things I mentioned in the last posting.

Baby Corso's Internet Debut!!!

Check out these in utero pics that we got today at the hospital. The OB clinic says we have a perfectly healthy baby. Ahem, Meghan... that is ONE PERFECTLY HEALTHY BABY CORSO! I am attaching two pictures with colored lines detailing the little bugger -- or booger, depending on what you like to call these lil' ones at this age. You can see the arm buds, head, face (surface), umbilical cord, placenta, and leg buds. Of course, it's all hard to see on these still pictures, but I'll tell you, this little boy/girl was squirming this afternoon and we could see all 4 appendages moving! SO CUTE! And yes, we're already wrapped around the fingers that this little embryo hasn't yet grown! Red=amnionic sac, Blue=left arm, Yellow=head, Light Purple=placenta, Dark Purple = umbilical cord , Green = face

Meghan's cousin, Alec (4 years old) when told that we saw our baby today said this:
"God help us if it's a boy!" When his mom, Cheryl asked why, he said, "Because we're hard." Then he said, "I know, we can name the baby Duncan!" When Cheryl asked why, he said, "Because I like Dunkin Donuts." There you have it folks! Wisdom truly comes from the youngest among us.

VISITOR

Mrs. Clancy A.K.A. Mamasan is here this weekend visiting us. We had off on Friday for Veterans' Day. So we've been showing her around town. The girls went shopping all afternoon and I planted my butt on the beach and enjoyed the weather. The water was a little chilly, but no more chilly than the Atlantic is every June. Today we are off to Pensacola to go to the Air Show. It is the 60th Anniversary of the Blue Angels. Even though it's a Navy Air Show, it'll still be a blast... Pictures to follow. www.naspensacola.navy.mil
