Movement

Stella is a mover! Her newest thing is to squirm around and wiggle while coo-ing, smiling, making other sounds for which words escape me, and of course burping and farting. It's all very cute...as you might imagine. Last night in her basonette (sp?) she actually rolled over from her back to her stomach. It was cool to watch, though sad to see her not know how to roll back to the way she started. She then repeated her new little trick today numerous times for Meghan while I was at work.

That's the news for now!

We've got very close friends visiting for the holiday weekend. They have never seen Clancy or Stella. We'll post pictures when all is done.

Growth Spurt!!

Little miss Stella has been going through a little growth spurt while her daddy is away in Texas. Two nights this week Stella woke 5 times to feed- compared to her typical 2 times a night. I
had to work on 3 hours of sleep. Thankfully I wasnt seeing patients this week.
She looks bigger in this picture :-) We will see what Kent thinks about her growth spurt as he hasnt seen her in a week.

Two Month Well Baby Checkup

Stella and I had our two month post partum checkups. And both of us were given a clean bill of health. The doctor commented that Stella's weight is in the 90th percentile, clearly she is not starving. Stella was quite the show off at the doctors office. It began with a large burp in the waiting room, all patients turned and looked. I am not sure they believed that something so small could make such a loud noise. She was happy and chatting up a storm throughout both of our appointments. She was smiling and showing her skills in holding her head up while on her belly. She was such a good girl. She will be getting her shots early next week. We will keep you all posted on that.

Stella and Mommy

I decided that having an infant and long hair do not go well together so I have chopped my hair. I now have an official mom cut which takes just 10 minutes to dry and style. That is about all the time that STella allows me in the morning :-) Who do you think is the boss in this house???? So here is the new hair.... it will be hard to notice as a very cute Stella is also in the picture. I have a feeling most people will be drawn to her. I cant blame you, she is too cute in her little duck dress from Aunt Marlaena :-)

Stella had another play date with her boyfriend Reace. Both were more interested in interacting with the adults than each other. These two have been known to play off each other. Stella always starts the crying and Reace will sometimes follow and start fussing as well. I guess he feels her pain. Luckily this evening neither was fussy and the parents got to grill out and eat dinner with both hands (a rare thing these days). More pics to come...

A visual to help you see

More Stella updates

I forgot to mention. She is balding like a 50 year old man in the midst of a mid-life crisis. It's hilarious how she has patches of dark hair and splotches of bald scalp.

Sean and Brenda visited recently. Here's a picture of Uncle Sean. He was very hesitant about holding her when she made anything resembling a scream or cry. His look of panic was priceless at these times. But over the course of a few days, he settled into the groove of trying to "shush" her if he happened to be holding her when she cried.
Here are other recent pics. In one of them it looks like she is staring someone down.
She has even begun to imitate Borat's famous statement "HIGH FIVE!!!"

Answer me this

Olive oil is made from olives

Peanut oil is made from peanuts

Lemon oil is made from lemons

You get my drift

So is baby oil made of babies?

Houdini

This little girl is like Houdini. We swaddle her so that she does not wake herself at night with all her arm and leg movements. But no matter how tightly we wrap her -- even if we pin her arms down by her sides prior to wrapping her, she squirms and wiggles her arms to 90 degrees across her belly and then pushes her fists up towards her chin and out of the blanket. This child is amazing. So we have a super complex way of swaddling her now which helps her sleep in 4 hour increments. FOUR HOURS AT A TIME!! Woo hoo, are we spoiled now.

She was 6 weeks old as of yesterday and she is doing very well. She is 24 inches long (>95th percentile) and about 12 pounds (>75th percentile). What she is doing constantly these days is smiling. We're surprised because she actually giggles a little bit after nursing. We tried our best to capture these moments but she's a wiley one!

A Secret Weapon

We have found that Stella will fall asleep in the baby carrier. She loves when you vaccuum with her in the carrier.

Stella's 1 month picture in a "Melting Pot" original outfit. Very CUTE!!

Kent tried to convince Stella to sleep longer this morning. As you can see she is not so convinced but she makes a decent effort to fall asleep. She began screaming a few minutes after this picture was taken. no more sleep for DADDY!!!
