Accidents Happen

So I attempted to update the blog last Sunday night...but I had an accident on Meghan's computer. I know it sounds horrible, but these things happen to all of us. It is just something we have to learn to accept as adults. I know you might be wondering "How the heck did that happen?" I actually wonder that myself. I mean, as children we had accidents all the time - it was really a normal part of growing up. So you could imagine my embarrassment, panic, and then regret when I (as an adult) had an accident.

Meghan's computer is now in the shop - they seem to think that if we let it dry out for a few days, it will be fine. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and I am praying every day. By the way, it is easy to pray everyday if you've been castigated to the back yard and made to sleep under the porch. I've got alot of time on my hands now. Yup, that's my punishment for having an accident on her computer. I've been kicked out of the house until it is fixed. No one told me the first month of marriage would be like this!

So I just have one piece of advice for all those adults who may have an accident some day. While updating your blog, DO NOT under any circumstances place a bottled beverage next to the laptop. You might just end up knocking it over like I did, spilling liquid into the keyboard. What a bummer...

BTW
Thankfully, our movers arrived yesterday with all of our stuff, so we've been spending the last 24 hours unpacking everything. You know, you never really realize how much crap you own until you move. It's a sobering experience!

37th Annual Corso Roadtrip Awards

We're finally here! Actually, we arrived on Thursday around 6pm. Our drive was grueling, but beautiful in some parts. The route was Rt. 81 from northern VA down through Tennessee, then to Rt. 59 through Georgia, Alabama, Missisippi, and Louisiana. In Louisiana we picked up Rt. 10 and that took us west all the way to San Antonio.

Given the 1,045 other drivers we polled on the way down here, the votes for the 37th Annual Corso Roadtrip Awards have come in. They have been counted; the results are as follows:

The Kid in the Candy Store Award: Virginia
(Formerly known as the Nose-Pressed Against the Glass Award)
(state having the best scenery)

The Try not to Toss Your Cookies Cup: Tennessee
(state having the steepest roads)

The Snoozer Plaque: Alabama
(state having the most boring scenery)

The NASCAR Award: Georgia
(state having the fastest drivers)

The Colonel Sanders Bucket: Mississippi
(state having the most Kentucky Fried Chicken stops)

The Mosquito Cup: Louisiana
(state having the largest swamps)

The Vaca Plaque: Texas
(state having the most cows visible from the highway)

The Blue Plate Special Award: Louisiana
(state having the most roadkill)

The King Ferdinand & Queen Isabella Crown: Texas
(state having the flatest landscape)

The Keep Your Piggy Bank Intact Award:Tennessee ($1.92 per gallon)
(state having the lowest gas prices)

Our Blog Setup and Trip Departure

Hello everyone! Meghan and I are starting this blog in order to keep everyone involved in and aware of the happenings of our life in Texas (this upcoming year), and for the next three years with the US Airforce. By sharing thoughts, events, and stories we hope to keep you involved in our lives.

Some of you reading this definitely know all about blogs, their purpose, and their format. But I know there are others who are less familiar. Put simply, we post words and pictures daily or weekly - depending on how busy we are. You can read and look at anything that we've posted. You can also email us by clicking on the icon after each entry that says comment.

Since this is our first posting, we wanted to include a picture or two from the honeymoon and the wedding. Our photographer has not yet finished editing and posting our pictures. Here are a few for now.

We are leaving for San Antonio on Wednesday at 4am figuring we should practice getting up at that time since our officer training will demand that for the month of July! So, we'll drive out to route 81 from Alexandria, then south toward route 59. We're hoping to make our first and only stop in Meridian, Missisippi. That would make it a 14 hour drive. Then we'll drive the remaining 11 hours on Thursday. Wish us luck!
