Birthday Fun

Brice and Steve had birthdays recently. We had a great time going bowling in Crestview. You are all jealous -- CLEARLY! The cake was probably the funniest part...

I wasn't aware that they made such erotic and trashy baked goods. Oh wait, we live in Crestview, how silly to have doubted the capability of the locals here:)

Pescatore/Barry Wedding

The wedding this past weekend in Binghamton, NY was excellent. Food was great, the Scottish bagpipe band was amazing! And there were unique ideas, like naming all the tables by a city/county in either Italy (Arianna's heritage) or Ireland (Brendan's heritage). I had tons of fun pal-ing around with Arianna, Brendan, their friends -- particularly one Maria Pescatore. She was hilarious! She is also a Capt in the medical side of the military (Army).

I had a blast meeting their family and friends and seeing the booming megatropolis called Binghamton. It is also known as the Entertainment mecca of the world...just a little sarcasm there. Actually it was a cool city - surrounded by bridges that cross the susquahanna river and stuff. Interesting. The next several posts include pictures I took. There's even a few artistic efforts I made. They are sad, but I am still learning how to take good photos through trial and error. Below is one of my favorite pictures. Although the bride looked stunning the entire night a few of my pics caught her making the funniest faces. This was my favorite. I've got one caption under it. If you email me or leave a comment with your suggested caption, I'll post all of them for our amusement...sorry Arianna, it is at your expense.

"OH NO YOU DI--INT! I KNOW YOU DIDN"T JUST STICK YOUR FINGER IN MY CAKE!"

Arianna gets a kick out of the fact that Brendan can fit his big old noggin' in that Scottish hat!

Hmmmmmmm... cake, YUMMY!

YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE...in a tasteful manner

Artsy Fartsy Wedding Pictures

Cute picture of the bride and groom after the church ceremony. They are awaiting their departure to take loads of pictures. I think Brendan's expressions in these pictures tell a thousand words. Would you say he looks pensive? proud? smug? It's open to interpretation, but the expression is definitely there.

Their expressions are priceless as Arianna places the wedding band on Brendan's finger. And look at his toothy grin...

Cutting the cake -- the picture speaks for itself. She's ecstatic, and he's intense about it.

Update

You can now leave a comment on the blog. I had somehow turned this function off, but I just tried to turn it back on. Enjoy!

2 year anniversary

Last week we also had our 2-year anniversary. Hard to believe, I know. It had felt like eternity -- uh, I mean it has been an eternity of love for the both of us... I'll quit before I get in deeper trouble...

Here's a picture of the most beautiful pregnant lady I've ever met.

Boo Boo

We watched a doggie for a woman we work with for a few days last week. He was a big old teddy bear -- literally. He was about 120 pounds! He and Clancy loved to play with each other. We think Clancy really thought she was a tough girl though, because Boo seemed to like playing the submissive one. He usually rolled onto his back and bit at Clancy's ears and neck -- almost the way Australian Cattle dogs do -- except he's a golden retriever. It was very cute. Both dogs got a great del of exercise too, which never hurts the guy who usually has to walk the dog!

Stella's Room

Kent and I worked together today to finish Stella's room. We are so excited that it is ready for her arrival in a few weeks. Her clothes and stuff have been washed. Her closet organized (completly my OCD coming through). Here are some pics of the finished nursery.
What fun.........

The plaques above the glider will have handprints of Kent, me and the baby. So very cute!!
Check out the flowers and critters on the wall near her changing table. They are these removable, reusable, stickers. We are hoping that she will like to look at them while she is being changed.
I also made a kid friendly family tree for Stella to the left in the picture so that she can learn about her family. Never to early to learn about the crazy but loving fmaily she has out there!!!!
Now we just have to wait for her arrival. 6 weeks and counting :-) Hope all is well with everyone. xoxo

Yardwork

Man do I hate to love yardwork.

It's sad.

I've been a man all my life... and when I think about it, you know you're getting old, boring, or simply uncool when you find yourself looking forward to weeding, gardening, and mowing the lawn. It is an even lower step into uncoolitude when you find yourself oogling over trees. TREES!! What the F? Why am I SO EXCITED about buying cypress trees? I'm not sure, but I love how they look and I hope they take nicely to our garden and grow well there. Hopefull I won't kill them with my quasi-retarded green thumb. I'm not in the green-thumb gifted and talented program like some of us (ahem...Brice, Steve, Diana). I'm still in the remedial green thumb curriculum. I don't ride a short bus, but I am required to wear knee pads, a helmet, and can only use the plastic spade and the short shovel. Maybe one day I'll evolve...

But man, don't those trees look nice?? Just picture them as they fill out and grow as tall as the roofline! See that's what I mean -- making comments like that exemplifies how lame I am becoming. Kim, shoot me now. Back at St. A's if you told me I would have ever said some of the things I"m saying these days about landscape etc., I would have told you "Ohhh Kim! For the love of God...Arrghhhhhh..." CLEARLY that joke will leave every other reader of this blog rivited, and in a state of intense, absolute ponderage. (I'm making up more words here) And I am certain it will induce a few sleepless nights for all due to the unbearable overwhelming suspense. ...or perhaps not.

Here are 2 pics for the next post related to the beach weekend and baby shower (local). There I am like a child... playing in the sand. It's amazing how easily I am amused. Nothing has changed. If you right-click on the picture of Meghan and I you'll note the genuine Hawaiian lays. I know, I have spelled it like the potato chip company, but I do not know how else to spell it.

Entertainment

Last weekend we went to Panama City Beach (about 90 minutes east along the coast) to a Colonel's beach house. He entered it as an item to be bid on in a silent auction that was conducted in our hospital. We bid on it with 2 other couples and got it. It was an adequate and quaint little beach bungalow 1 block from the Gulf. We had a relaxing time with our dogs, Jordin, Brice, and Reace.

Below is Reace and I at the shower our dear friends threw for us. In 3 words: they totally rule!Jordin and Brice hosted it at their phat-daddy-pad (one of which Puff Daddy himself would be jealous :) Our friends Beth and Steve even ordered us lays made of orchids directly from Hawaii. It was tons of fun.

33 weeks and counting

So Stella reaches full term in 4 weeks and in just 3 weeks I could have Stella and not be considered high risk! It is crazy. We are certainly feeling the presure to get things ready for her arrival. We are putting in the finishing touches on the nursery, busy washing her clothes, blakets, bibs etc. , and soaking up the last little bit of Kent and Meghan only time.

I am feeling Stella constantly moving but she has switched from cute kicks to hurtful pushes. I think she may be getting crowded. I have my next doctor's appt Monday, I am going to see if I can convince my doctor to do an ultrasound to see how big she is :-)

Baby Shower Florida Style

My girlfriends here in Florida threw Kent and I a couple's baby shower. The theme was Luau which was perfect given the weather and the plentiful options of frozen drinks :-) Check out mine and Kent's custom, original lays which were flown in from Hawaii. Our friends spoiled us!!

The boys raced each other drinking beers out of a bottle. It was a close call but Brice won, this may explain why he also ate almost all the jello shots later that night!

There was also a contest in which each couple had to design a onsie for Stella. Everyone was quite creatvie. Do you think we are trying to hard to set these two youngin's up??

We had a blast and are so grateful for the friends that we have made here. They are wonderful. You will all get to meet them when you visit :-)

Visitors from the North

Sue and Roger came to visit us here in FL. Unfortunately, we were required to work one day out of the weekend (the whole service before self thing). However, we managed to squeeze in some QT incluing an intense game of Taboo: girls vs boys. Sue and I won!!!
