Chicken=Vomit

...to a prego lady named Meghan Corso.

I love my wife. No really, I absolutely do! For both the fantastical AND fanatical things she does. Por ejemplo, esta dia, la mujer hiciste una cena deliciosa. But when the dinner came out, she took one bite and said with a disappointed disgust, "This chicken tastes funny... it's making me sick." She promptly left the table, dumped her chicken in the trash (despite the starving homeless man who lives in our town) and prepared a delectible bowl of cereal. How fancy. This made her much happier. However, when I sat down to eat my chicken next to her, she began to gag and groaned that it smelled and was making her sick. Note that there was no gagging when she smelled it cooking. AnyHOO, she began laughing at the same time, because she realized that her talking about it was making it worse. Then she started describing what it was she saw that was making her gag, "...there were too many veins...it was so gross..." --gag-gagggggg, "it's just the smell...and those veins..." GAG---GAG--Gag "...it's making me sick..." This went on for almost 2 minutes. I asked her why she continued to focus on the image of the veins if it was making her sick. She continued to gag and laugh -- acknowledging that she was being a head case. She finally got up and walked away with a "you gotta take that trash out as soon as you're done eating...it smells gross!" AGAIN, I love my wife. Le amo a mi esposa. Ella es la mejora esposa en todo el mundo. She is so Meghan. It's as simple as that. As I'm writing this, she reads over my shoulder, throws herself to the ground dramatically (in jest) and says, "Ohhhhh God!! Clancy why does daddy forsake me?!!!"

Good News

Other good news to share is that Meghan is officially in her 19th week as of this morning. She is almost halfway through the pregnancy. It is truly unbelievable. We received the results of the quadruple screen yesterday and they were all negative. This is the blood test that tells us if Meghan is a carrier for cystic fibrosis. Since she is not, then we do not have to worry abotu this with any of the future children we decide to have! The screen also confirmed that this fetus does not have Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18, or and neural tube defects. We're looking at one healthy fetus so far!! Not that I ever doubted it... but there may be someone else we all know who has been a little nervous about the health of our little one... that person shall remain nameless.

I was thinking about the in utero pictures I posted the other day. Amazing that we tink we can detect features of the baby in the face that look like us, and yet we can't discriminate between the fetus' penis or vagina. Obviously our observations about the facial features are confabulations!

Meghan the Seamstress

Here is a picture of Meghan's masterpiece! Actually, I'm not being sarcastic. She really did an excellent job of teaching herself how to use the sewing machine she bought. She also did well at figuring out how to make these curtains so that they were cut and sewn evenly, AND were functional. If you can click on it or save it, and then zoom in, you can get a better view of her handiwork :) The reason we chose this project (I say "we" because we decided on the fabric together) was A) to try to add to the Tuscan theme of our bathroom and 2) to cover up the top of this window fram that appears to be slightly uneven. Afterall, we want to be able to resell this house someday!!!

CRITICAL FOOTNOTE

Knowing that the baby picture post will likely steal the attention of any shorter posts I might have made on this blog in the last 15 minutes or so, This is a reminder to look at an even more important (tongue in cheek) post below. DON'T MISS THAT ONE!!!!!!!

In Utero Pictures PART II

Sounds like the sequel to a Nirvana album or a reject from the casting room of a horror movie production company. Well sorry to disappoint you, it's much less exciting than that (though potentially as frightening to look at). It's the recent pictures of our little one:

This is CLEARLY a profile of Corsito (from the Spanish colloquial for "little Corso"). Can you guess where its head is? Interestingly, the last inutero pics we posted were when the baby was about the length (head to rump) of 1 and a half inches (at 8 weeks, 6 days). Now that is the size of the baby's foot! Can you believe in about double the time the baby has grown that much? We recently read that if the baby continued to grow at that rate after 9 months it'd be the size of the sun! How the heck would Meghan feel about trying to deliver that one? Clearly we'd request a c-section in that case...

As before, the handy-dandy color-coded diagram below illustrates the crystal clear features of Corsito's face. Red = eyes... for the devil this little one is sure to be due to its posession of the famous Clancy "wild gene." Here comes trouble! Green=cheek bones... obviously Corsito has my chissled cheek and jaw bones. Pink = the nose. Blue = the corners of Corsito's mouth... I'm sure we'll NEVER hear back-talk from this one given my sarcasm and Ahem...the Clancy "wild gene."As plain as anyone can see, this is already the happiest baby. You can definitely make out the mischeivious smile!

Define Class

If you look up the word "class" in the dictionary, you undoubtedly will come up with these definitions: 1) stratification of a society by economic income 2) Okaloosa County, FL syn. Mossy Head

Indeed, Crestview is in Okaloosa County and the neighboring town of Mossy Head was in the news earlier in the week due to its epitomization of the word class. We even made NBC news! See online article below. This will give all you eager readers a snapshot of the kind of towns that surround ours. MAN! We should have sought real estate in Mossy Head -- we'd be wealthier thatn Trump...

18 Weeks!

Meghan is officially 18 weeks prego today! Here is a picture to show how much our little unborn baby has grown. In 2 weeks we go for the ultrasound that will help us find out the sex of the baby. From that point on we can start decorating the nursery, buying clothes, linens etc...

I am off to Tallahassee for the tonight to visit a good friend from high school - Joe Yannucci. It's his birthday and another one of his co-workers' b-day. So there's quite a celebration happening. Meghan will be home for the night relaxing. Although she is on call, so knock on wood and say a prayer for her to not get any calls!!!!!!

BTW, Meghan just bought a sewing machine and has already made us some beautiful curtains for our bathroom. She is also teaching herself to hem her own pants. Pics to come...
