Two more Rooms

Here's how we decorated our dining room and study. See those lavish blinds? How much would you be willing to pay for custom fit blinds?

$499.99? -- no way!

$399.99 -- not a chance!

$299.99 -- only if Uncle Buck is paying!

$199.99 -- maybe if you slap me silly and steal my wallet!

How about $14.99 for each shade!!!! They're actually made of paper and adhere to the window frame. They're "custom" because you cut them with a scissors to fit your window. It was a great way to keep the A/C bill low, add privacy, and save the money of buying window trimmings all at once. We'll take our time and room-by-room, decorate as needed. What we doctors like to call PRN... (I'm so smug and sarcastic! -- how rude)

The new bedroom furniture.

Mamasan has been demanding pics of the bedroom furniture she and Pop bought us for our housewarming/graduation gift. There was a SNAFU with the armoire - it was shipped in pine rather than maple. It is on the way. The stain is mahogany. The furniture is 100% solid wood, dovetailed drawers on all 4 corners - no veneer! It is what I like to call grown-up furniture. As a child I was enthralled by things such as ice-pops, roller-coasters, piggy-back rides, and freeze-tag. Now I'm just bubbling with excitement over a box of wood with some knobs on it. How lame is it to be an adult?

I Just Want a Membership to the Bob Villa Fanclub

...........is that too much to ask?

This is my attempt to fix the drainage problem we were having in our front garden, between the house and the yard. The idea was to dig a trench and install drains within the garden, then run the pipe under the sidewalk and down the sloping part of our yard. Does it work? Don't ask! Please keep all criticisms to your self. I enjoyed the project and it's all a learning process. Until now I have been unable to do any REAL home improvements because we've always flushed our money down the toilet we call THE RENTAL DOMECILE.

Back By Popular Demand!!!

I have finaly downloaded the pics from the camera, edited them - crucial step, and uploaded them to this blog. Clearly it took an act of God to help me get this updated!!

Below is a pic of Meghan and I on our 1 year anniversary. She planned a surprise at a hotel on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It was excellent. The food at the hotel restaurant was spectacular...and pricey. But it was all well worth the money it cost us. Look at her grabbing my butt - HOW NAUGHTY! Next to it is a picture of a bay beach. Notice how far out that man has waded to go fishing. the water remains shallow for a good 175 yards!!! The picture doesn't do justice to the greenish water that gives the area its name:

The Emerald Coast. And of course, my wife wouldn't be my wife unless she was being a character! Here she is in a gun simulation. She learned to shoot and guns hand machine guns that day. It is actually the world's most expensive video game!

LAME

We have been so lame for not updating this blog. I've been stuck in a viscious cycle that goes a little something like this:

"Hmm, I need to update our blog." I connect the camera to the computer and push the power button to download the pics into the computer in order to upload them to the blog. I push power, "shit! the batteries are dead!" I unplug the camera, take out the batteries and place them in the charger.

They charge over the course of one day.

I take them out of te charger, put them in the camera, take a few pics, then get involved in other activities (work, hanging pictures on the walls, cleaning, mowing the lawn --which takes 3 hours with our push mower!!!).

Then I think, "Hmm, I need to update our blog." I connect the camera to the computer and push the power button to download the pics into the computer in order to upload them to the blog. I push power, "shit! the batteries are dead!" I unplug the camera, take out the batteries and place them in the charger.

They charge over the course of one day...you get the idea.

The point is I'm committed to making it happen this weekend!
